The Man Utd fans in the Transfer Tavern think that Jose Mourinho’s squad is close to perfect…
The Portuguese has built quite the squad over the last year or two, and now his hard work is really paying off.
From top to bottom, the Red Devils’ squad is littered with depth and quality, and that is a very good thing for the club long-term.
It’s obviously very important to bring new players in, and Jose Mourinho has made use of recent transfer windows to do just that. However, it’s also crucial that Man Utd’s current crop of players is kept together – and according to the Mirror, Man Utd are looking to do just that with two very important players.
The Mirror reports that the pair of Juan Mata and Ander Herrera are both set to have their stays in Manchester extended, with each player having an option 12-month extension included in their respective current contracts.
This is obviously a very logical decision, in that it’s important to keep them at the club, but each player certainly deserves that show of faith.
Juan Mata, though expected to be cast aside following Jose Mourinho’s arrival, has really impressed since the manager came in and despite a flurry of top talent coming in, he has often kept his place.
Herrera, meanwhile, though he enjoyed a fantastic season last year, has struggled this term – but after winning the Player of the Year award at Old Trafford last term, his importance cannot be doubted.
Jose Mourinho is clearly happy with the duo, and thus an extension to their current deals makes sense.
Both players are in the prime of their careers, and so Man Utd clearly will want to take advantage of that.
Though neither of them are the first names on Man Utd’s teamsheet, the job that they will do this season cannot be doubted, with both offering a vital set of skills to Jose.
