The Man Utd fans in the Transfer Tavern are expecting a couple of midfielders to move to Old Trafford this summer, but a report from Tutto Mercato Web suggesting a potential target has certainly come as a surprise…
According to Tutto Mercato Web, Man Utd are amongst the clubs keeping tabs on Middlesbrough ace Marten de Roon, with the Portuguese manager clearly still keen on improving his midfield line.
De Roon moved to Middlesbrough in 2016, and whilst he has impressed, he has hardly set the world alight in the Premier League. He made 32 starts in the Premier League last year, emerging as a key player for Middlesbrough, picking up 4 goals in the process.
Indeed, he is a popular figure amongst Middlesbrough supporters in the Transfer Tavern, but this news has been met with a unanimous sigh amongst the Man Utd fans in the Transfer Tavern. The club have been linked with a move for Premier League winner Nemanja Matic, and whilst it isn’t unfeasible to think that Man Utd could sign both, there is no doubting that de Roon would be a step down on the Serbian.
Still, any news is good news as far as Man Utd are concerned, with our landlord concerned that the Red Devils are still yet to invest heavily this summer. With Victor Lindelof the only confirmed deal at present, Mourinho certainly has a lot of work to do.
