Man Utd reportedly ready to end pursuit of 26-goal forward this summer

For the Man Utd fans in the Transfer Tavern, nothing is more important this summer than the signing of a new forward…

However, despite the clear need for improvement in the role, it seems as though one striker, Andrea Belotti, will not be brought in to plug the gap. According to the Independent, Man Utd are ready to end their interest in Belotti this summer, with current side Torino reportedly unwilling to budge on their £84 million asking price. Significantly, it is noted that Belotti may have been signed in order to compliment Alvaro Morata, but it now seems clear that Mourinho is instead looking to improve his midfield instead.

Whilst the signing of Alvaro Morata appears very much on the cards, the fact that Man Utd are not looking to seal a deal for Belotti has certainly disappointed the Man Utd fans in the Transfer Tavern. The Italian was on fire last season, scoring a remarkable 26 league goals, proving to many in the pub that he is one of Europe’s most deadly forwards.

That being said, £84 million is a lot of money, and with Alvaro Morata appearing the priority for Man Utd, it would not make sense to spend that much on a player that could find himself on the bench next season.

Instead, Man Utd will be getting to work on improving their midfield. It is a real problem area for the Red Devils, with Michael Carrick getting on and Paul Pogba unable to play to his potential without more quality behind him.

Jose Mourinho certainly has a lot of work to do this summer…
