The Man Utd fans in the Football Transfer Tavern have high hopes for him…
Last season was somewhat of a breakout for young Man Utd star Cameron Borthwick-Jackson under now ex-Man Utd boss Louis van Gaal.
After an injury ruled Luke Shaw out for almost an entire season, Borthwick-Jackson often stepped up to the plate and filled in for the young Englishman – and looked impressive in doing so.
He made 10 league appearances last year, which is a testament to how much van Gaal trusted him – and he undoubtedly has an impressive career ahead of him.
With the return of Luke Shaw this season, Jose Mourinho saw fit to loan out the youngster and get him regular first team football – and chose Wolverhampton Wanderers in the Championship in order to get that.
However, things have not been going well for the young English, and after only 5 appearances – his spell in the Football League could be set to end prematurely.
According to the Daily Mail, Man Utd are set to end Borthwick-Jackson’s loan at Wolves amid concern from Jose Mourinho about his lack of game time.
They add that Mourinho wants additional depth behind Luke Shaw, and given Borthwick-Jackson’s lack of game time; he could be the perfect man to play that role.
The Man Utd fans in the Football Transfer Tavern have mixed opinions on this. On one hand, he needs regular game time, and so a return to Man Utd makes little sense.
However, on the other hand – he proved himself to be good enough last season; and he deserves a chance under Mourinho.
Our landlord thinks he could give Shaw a run for his money this season.
