Man Utd should look to seal a deal for this Tottenham man – here’s why

The Manchester United fans down in the Transfer Tavern think their side is almost ready to compete this season…

United kick off their season on Saturday at home to West Ham, but we think their side could still benefit from some renovations just as the Premier League gets under way.

Jose Mourinho isn’t particularly fond of Luke Shaw. Last season the United boss publicly criticised the England man’s fitness and professionalism and Shaw’s appearances for the side became increasingly infrequent.

Mourinho’s frank admissions about Luke Shaw were more likely to signal a parting of the ways than a wake-up call and we think the United boss should be looking at other options to rival Victor Lindelof on the left.

Although currently sidelined with a knee injury, Danny Rose has been superb for Tottenham over the last couple of seasons.

Rose offers impressive defensive contributions and is fierce in a tackle, whilst he is capable of romping down the touchline and delivering an inch-perfect cross. With Lukaku now in the United set-up, it represents a mouthwatering combination.

The 27-year-old who has established himself in the England squad is approaching full-fitness again. Signing Rose would prove difficult, Daniel Levy will be wary of losing his second high-profile full-back to Premier League title rivals this summer, after already allowing Kyle Walker to leave.

But Mourinho should certainly try, as he would struggle to find a better solution.
