Man Utd should take a risk and try to sign this £34.2m-rated attacker this month – agreed?

The Man Utd fans in the Transfer Tavern aren’t so sure about reports from ESPN linking their side with a loan move for PSG midfielder Lucas Moura. The Brazilian has become a bit of a bit-part player in France this season, and the prospect of bringing in a PSG outcast doesn’t sit too well amongst our resident Red Devils.

However, our landlord is of a very different opinion. To the contrary, he thinks that Man Utd should move for Moura. In fact, he thinks that it should be a permanent move, and he’s got a number of reasons why.

Perhaps the most significant reason comes in the form of what Man Utd need right now. For all of their attacking firepower, the Red Devils are lacking potency in the attack. In particular, their attacking midfielders are struggling, with both Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Marcus Rashford looking particularly poor at present. That’s a real problem, and it’s one that Mourinho must solve.

For Moura’s part, he’s a pretty potent player, and his form last season certainly suggests that he could have an impact at Old Trafford. He picked up a very tidy 12 league goals alongside 5 assists last season. That’s more than Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Marcus Rashford, Jesse Lingard and even Juan Mata. That’s not a record that can be ignored.

At 25-years-old, though Moura has seemingly been around forever, he’s still young enough to get even better, and if he can do half as well at Man Utd as he did at PSG last season, he’d be a fantastic signing.

He’s rated at £34.2 million by Transfer Markt, and though he wouldn’t be a cheap signing by any stretch, he’d be worth every penny. It’s a risk, of course, given his lack of action this season – but it could be one worth taking.
