Manager admits uncertainty concerning future of Arsenal’s international forward

Sky Sports quote Arsene Wenger as admitting the future of Arsenal’s England international Theo Walcott is uncertain, after what’s been another difficult campaign for the 26-year-old.

Walcott marked his ten-year anniversary at Arsenal earlier this year but during that decade he’s failed to establish himself as a regular starter. This year started promising, with Walcott ahead of Olivier Giroud in the pecking order, but injuries soon curtailed his rise.

Now, Walcott looks set to miss-out on a spot within Roy Hodgson’s squad for England’s European Championship venture this summer and speculation is mounting to suggest Walcott could leave north London.

Admitting that the forward is frustrated, Wenger admitted he is unsure as to whether Walcott will stay:

“I don’t know yet. I’m not in transfer mode at the moment, but I think he has gone through a bad spell. He has responded very well, because he said: ‘Okay, I will work harder and more.”

“Even when he comes on now, you see he is motivated and focused. Let’s see how well he finishes the season now.”

Our landlord feels Arsenal need to be more cut-throat and oust a player like Walcott this summer, though many fans in the bar disagree and feel that decision will come back to haunt the Gunners.
