The Manchester City fans are feeling confident in the Transfer Tavern ahead of a potentially season defining month for the club.
Pep Guardiola’s side may already have one hand firmly on the Premier League trophy, but City’s prestigious manager will not be content unless all four available trophies are sat in the trophy cabinet by the end of the campaign. The month of February will strongly dictate Guardiola’s success in achieving this incredibly ambitious objective, as The Citizens will face a Carabao Cup final, an FA Cup 5th round tie and a last-sixteen Champions League encounter.
Evidently, the next few weeks will be very important for the club, so Guardiola will be hoping to avoid adding any of his players to the growing list of injured absentees. One player who he will be keeping a particularly close eye on is City’s captain Vincent Kompany.
City’s Belgian skipper has desperately struggled to remain fit during the past few seasons as injuries have become a dominant and plaguing theme in his career.
In light of his injury troubles, Kompany has personally spoken out about his long-term future as a professional football player, and declared that he has no interest in pursuing his career away from The Etihad Stadium.
Vincent Kompany on possibly leaving City in the summer: "That’s not even a debate. If I stay fit, I’ll want to play football at City. And if I’m not fit, I won’t have other options. I don’t know if I could muster the same motivation elsewhere." pic.twitter.com/LbGllZ7hrV

The City fans are certainly hoping that he has turned a corner with regards to his injury problems and can play out the remainder of the season without any further setbacks.
However, plenty of The Citizens faithful have taken a more pragmatic approach to the situation and urged the club to offer Kompany a role within the City setup as a backroom member of staff, whilst some have even suggested he could manage the club in the future.
Here’s what the City fans had to say about Kompany’s long term future on Twitter…

Love him. Coach/manager material. Scout, barman, whatever it takes to keep him at city
— Stevie (@steviehcohen) February 5, 2018
He is an educated player and top coach material if ever I saw one.
Help him get his badges, let him have a junior team and build him up as a potential successor. Just as Barca did with Pep.

Here's to you vincent kompany!

He should just focus on giving his experience and technic to the young city players! Best defender in the world when he's 100% fit such a shame his body has let him down 🙁

Vincent Kompany is one of the most articulate footballers I have ever known, he should be kept at City and put through his coaching badges, he has represented Manchester City in the best way and deserves a position at the club. Love this guy.
