Manager provides concerning update on status of 25-year-old Arsenal man

The Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern are expecting their side to impress over the coming weeks…

After a tough start to the season, the Gunners have seemingly turned a corner over the last few weeks, with Arsene Wenger finally beginning to get the best out of his team.

Next up for the Gunners is a tough trip to Vicarage Road to face Watford, and whilst they will be expected to beat the Hornets, their trip across London has been made far more difficult by a recent admission from Germany manager Joachim Loew regarding Shkodran Mustafi.

After suffering an injury whilst representing his country, Loew has provided an update on his fitness, and it’s bad news for the Gunners. According to Sky Sports, he said: “It doesn’t look good, it looks like he has torn a ligament. We’re waiting for a full diagnosis, but it looks like he will be out for a while”.

With Arsenal’s game against Watford less than a week away, it’s not looking good for the German with regards to his chances of making the game.

This is a big problem for the Gunners, as whilst Mustafi has had mixed success since moving to London, his form – like most of his teammates’ – has really picked up over the last few weeks.

He’s a popular man in the Transfer Tavern, and so there is an air of disappointment in the pub at present. Nobody will be more disappointed than Arsene Wenger, though, with the Frenchman now having a tough decision on his hands.

Landlord’s Verdict

Arsenal have been going well in recent weeks, but they’ve got some real problems at the moment.  Mustafi looks set to join the likes of Laurent Koscielny and Calum Chambers in likely missing Arsenal’s next game, leaving Wenger very short at the back.

This is a big problem for the Gunners and it is one that, because of the international break, Wenger won’t have very long to solve.

He’ll be hoping that Mustafi, somehow, is able to get fit.
