Manchester City fans in the Football Transfer Tavern have heard via talkSPORT that Citizens defender Matija Nastasic is close to finalising a move to Bundesliga side Schalke.
The 21-year-old has failed to become a part of Manuel Pellegrini’s side and he is yet to make a single Premier League appearance this season only appearing in the Community Shield defeat to Arsenal.
This has led to clubs from across Europe being linked with the Serbian defender and he was previously reportedly close to signing with Inter Milan but in mid-December, Roberto Di Matteo’s Schalke became favourites.
The Gelsenkirchen-based club’s general manager Horst Heldt said that a move for the Serbian defender could be completed in the next few days.
“We are negotiating back and forth, that’s how it goes,” Heldt said.
“You get closer and closer and in this case we are no longer far apart from each other. I am optimistic that we will get this done in the coming days.”
Heldt added the deal would be “a loan with an option to buy”.
