The Manchester City fans who are gathered at the bar in The Transfer Tavern this evening are discussing comments made by a player who could be on his way out of the club this summer.
The Daily Mirror is reporting that prior to joining Manchester City back in 2010, Yaya Toure thought it was the red side of Manchester that wanted him.
Our landlord has been discussing the midfielder’s time at the Etihad Stadium, and feels the combative star is way too inconsistent and should ideally vacate the club in the summer.
Though, on the whole, the Ivorian hasn’t looked back since joining City back in 2010 and has etched his name into folklore at the Etihad Stadium.
Speaking about the mix up, Toure said: “When I was at Barcelona and initially approached by Manchester City I thought it was Manchester United that wanted me.
“My agent had to tell me it was the team in the blue shirts.
“At the time Manchester United were putting Manchester City in the shadows. It was unbelievable. Manchester United is a big club and I respect that club a lot.
“It was a big challenge but I came because I knew they were going to succeed and we would win trophies, compete with the big clubs and with Manchester United.
“This was the kind of club I wanted to have a story with and make history with. I made a good choice.”
The Manchester City fans in The Tavern find Toure’s comments funny but they are sure that everyone in Europe knows the difference between the two sides now!
