Manchester City fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern are looking up from their brunches after the latest claim from the Daily Mail, who seem to think that Joleon Lescott has one very strong suitor in the January window.
As we know, the transfer window is open with a vengeance, and the rumours are flying around thick and fast. One of the first we turn our attentions to is the fact that Manchester City outcast Joleon Lescott is being tracked by Turkish giants Besiktas. There is one small snag for the player who cost City £22 million back in 2009 when they signed him from Everton, and that is the fact that Lescott would prefer to stay in England.
It seems clear that the defender will struggle to convince Manuel Pellegrini that he is a first team choice – having only made 13 appearances so far this term. As one of our punters notes, that is despite all the injury problems and defensive issues the club have faced.
Lescott has often been linked with a move away, and as he pours yet another pint on a busy day in the tavern, at 31 this could well be the final big contract of Lescott’s career and getting the right club and of course the right salary is vital.
Will Lescott leave? Let us know your thoughts below.
