Metro have claimed that Edin Dzeko’s future is once again up in the air, which does not shock us one bit here in the Football Transfer Tavern.
The Bosnian forward struggled to break into the first team under former manager Roberto Mancini, and is now facing the same problem under Manuel Pellegrini.
However, the former Wolfsburg striker now has the added issue of Alvaro Negredo and Sergio Aguero being ahead of him in the Citizens’ striking pecking order as well as them being in sensational form for the club.
Dzeko’s Bosnian team-mate Miralem Pjanic has urged the sought after forward to quit the Etihad Stadium, and join him in Serie A at Roma.
He noted: “I’m in contact with him and I know he aspires to play more and feel more important (than now).
“We hope he plays more. Here in Italy he would be very good. Of course, he belongs to Manchester City but I do not know how long for.”
As one of our punters points out, far more sides than just Roma are fans of Dzeko and he certainly would not be short of suitors should he chose to leave Manchester City.
Meanwhile, Manuel Pellegrini has apologised for the mathematical error which may well cost City a good draw in the Champions League on Monday. As our landlord pauses from pouring a pint, he notes that Pellegrini may have to do more than just say sorry should the club draw the likes of Barcelona!
Should Dzeko throw in the towel and join Pjanic at Roma? Let us know your thoughts below.
