Manchester City fans are looking slightly concerned in the Football Transfer Tavern this evening as the reports emerge about a possible high profile departure away from the Etihad Stadium in the summer.
According to The Sun, Real Madrid have made City striker Sergio Aguero their prime transfer target and are readying a £48 million summer bid to capture the Argentine star.
Carlo Ancelotti has reportedly set his ideas on landing the 25-year-old and will try to tempt him to the Bernabeu with a bumper contract package.
The paper indicates that the former Atletico Madrid man may be interested in a switch back to Spain as he looks for a fresh start after the upcoming World Cup in Brazil.
This would be quite a blow to City as Aguero has already formed a formidable partnership with Alvaro Negredo at the Etihad Stadium and has netted an incredible 16 goals in all competitions this term.
We’re not entirely sure why City would consider the offer from Madrid but the player’s head could be turned with the reported interest from Bernabeu. It’s certainly one to keep an eye on as the season progresses.
