The Express claims that Citizens skipper Vincent Kompany is interesting French big spenders Monaco, who could move for the defender in January.
The Belgian international centre back is highly regarded by all in the tavern but the 27-year-0ld has suffered a frustrating start to the season due to injuries, having only started four Premier League games this term.
He was linked with Barcelona and Monaco during the summer transfer window but neither side decided to formalise their interest but it appears that Monaco boss Claudio Ranieri is looking to shore up his defence with a move for Kompany.
As punter quips City look half the side when Kompany isn’t leading from the back and the outstanding defender missed out on appearing in the Chelsea defeat at the weekend due to a calf injury with City missing his sterdy leadership for the Blues winner.
The Stade Louis II-based outfit have made a solid start to the season in Ligue 1 after splashing millions in the summer on top-quality players but they still look rather weak in defence and the Belgian would certainly bring more assurance at the back.
City will be desperate to keep their talisman, whose current contract runs until 2018, but Monaco certainly have the spending power required to tempt City into a sale as Kompany looks for a possible fresh start after six impressive years at the Etihad Stadium.
Surely Kompany wouldn’t want to part with his beloved City, or would he? Let us know your thoughts below.
