Yesterday in the Football Transfer Tavern, Manchester City defender Micah Richards was linked with a summer move to Inter Milan and today’s Daily Star suggests that Bayern Munich are set to join the pursuit for the former England international.
New Bayern boss Pep Guardiola is understood to be an admirer of Richards and he wants to bring him to the Allianz Arena during the upcoming transfer window.
The 25-year-old right back had another inconsistent season at the Etihad Stadium making just seven appearances last term mainly due to injuries and he faces fierce competition for a starting berth in the City first team from Pablo Zabaleta and Maicon.
Although he still has two years to run on his current contract, his utility status could see him forge part of the summer clear out at the club under new boss Manuel Pellegrini as the Citizens look to lower their wage bill during the post-season.
A source is reported to have told Starsport: “Micah wants to know where he stands with his new manager and will then look at his options.
“Bayern have made some enquiries and if a club of that stature want to sign you, then you have to give it serious thought.”
Should City sell the long-serving defender this summer? Are the Champions League winners really interested in the injury prone defender? Rate this rumour below.
