The Daily Mail have a rather interesting claim for Manchester City fans today as they think the Citizens are the only club to have bid for Edinson Cavani this summer.
The Uruguayan forward has been linked to a whole host of teams this summer and his parents have even been putting their two penny’s worth in regarding their sons future, not helping speculation regarding the Napoli man one jot.
Now it seems that despite the links to Chelsea and also Real Madrid, not to mention rumours of a late approach from Manchester United, it seems that in reality, only Manuel Pellegrini’s men have made a bid -and one that does not match Napoli’s valuations at that.
“The only meeting I’ve had has been with Manchester City, but the offer was inadequate,’ De Laurentiis told reporters.
“There is no need to have a face to face with Cavani.
“If a club offers €63m then we would allow him to leave. The release clause will have been activated.
“It’s not fair that Cavani has distractions while he is playing in an important tournament like the Confederations Cup.”
Napoli are understandably keen to hold on to their star forward and are claiming that they will not accept less than £54 million for the forward.
Given nobody else has made a bid, should City simply pay the asking price for Cavani this summer? Let us know your thoughts below.
