It’s already been quite a day in the Football Transfer Tavern with some big stories breaking and now in news that brings smiles to Manchester City fans’ faces in the tavern Mirror Football reveal that Napoli have began negotiations with City over a summer transfer for Edinson Cavani.
The Uruguayan striker is known to have a £50 million buy out clause in his contract but City are understood to willing to include Bosnian international striker Edin Dzeko to seal the deal.
City are confident of a fresh start under incoming boss Manuel Pellegrini with Spanish midfielder Isco and Cavani both lined up to arrive at the club this summer.
While in London for film business, Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis yesterday admitted: “While I was taking care of cinema business, I said to (sporting director Alberto) Bigon to go to Manchester City to negotiate over Dzeko and Cavani. They talk a lot but when it comes to dealing with money, they are less forthcoming.”
