Manchester City fans in the Football Transfer Tavern were dealt a blow last week Pep Guardiola’s key target, Aymeric Laporte, decided to pin his future to Atletico Bilbao.
In light of the situation, Manchester Evening News, reports that John Stones has now become the new manager’s top priority, as Manchester City look to rebuild the frailties in their back line.
However, not unlike Chelsea’s attempt of last summer, Everton will be keen on keeping one their brightest prospects and have been given a boost over the clubs direction with the appointment of Ronald Koeman as head coach.
Koeman will additionally be given £100million to splash on fresh legs as new owner, Farhad Moshiri, looks to reconstruct an Everton team that could not find the solution to a leaky defence.
The Citizens will be well aware that the acquisition of Stones will come at a hefty price; it remains to be seen whether the bounty will prove too high.
