Liverpool fans are nodding in agreement at the latest gossip coming from the Daily Mail who seem to think that Manuel Pellegrini has placed a £100 million valuation on Raheem Sterling’s head.
Manchester City have been heavily linked with a move for the Liverpool star, who is currently trying to negotiate a new deal with the Reds and after contract talks failed to move as quickly as the Merseyside club would have liked, City have now been linked with a swoop for Sterling.
Pellegrini claimed: ‘Can you get [Raheem] Sterling? Maybe if you go to Liverpool with £100m you can. If I want an English player in the position of [David] Silva who is there? Maybe [Wayne] Rooney, but who else?’
We think that Pellegrini is half right about the price tag of English players and the majority of our punters quickly make the point that when you are considering selling to a domestic rival, it is your duty to extort as much money as humanly possible so it does not become a detriment to your current squad.
Liverpool fans. Is Pellegrini right? Is that the kind of money it would cost to prise Sterling away from the club? Let us know your thoughts below.
