The Manchester City fans are gathered around the jukebox in The Transfer Tavern discussing comments made by their manager with regards to his future at the club.
The Daily Mirror is reporting that Manuel Pellegrini would accept his time at the Etihad is up in the summer should his side win the Premier League title.
Speculation has been rife about Pellegrini’s future at the club since Bayern Munich manager Pep Guardiola has said he will be leaving the Bundesliga giants in the summer. Speaking about his future, Pellegrini said:
“If I have the option to renew here for five more years or to win the title and be sacked, I’d prefer to win the title. I don’t think my position in the future is linked to titles. For me, as a manager, it’s important to win the title because it’s my job.”
“I think that if you’re the owner of a club, you must have the option to replace the manager if they win the title or if they don’t win the title. It’s about your trust in the way you work. That’s more important than if you win a title or not for the owners.”
“Real Madrid are always changing the manager if you don’t win a title. I don’t think that’s the best way. On the other side, you can win a title, and of course the owner can not be happy with your work and they have the right to change.”
Our landlord in The Transfer Tavern thinks Pellegrini knows his time at the Etihad is up and thinks the fans would love him to win one more title to cement his legacy at the club.
Those Manchester City fans echo the landlords comments and are thankful for all Manuel Pellegrini has done for the club during his time with them.
