Manchester City fans in the Football Transfer Tavern are looking nervously at the latest claim coming from the Daily Star.
The publication seem to be under the impression that the champions of England will face a fight to hold onto one of their forwards – Alvaro Negredo – with Diego Simeone sniffing around for reinforcements.
La Liga winners Atletico Madrid are keen on the former Sevilla forward and as one of our punters notes, Los Colchoneros are looking to replace Diego Costa who is of course Chelsea bound.
It is believed that the Vicente Calderon side will table a £20 million bid in an attempt to prise Negredo – a former Real Madrid player – away from the Etihad Stadium.
Off the field, Negredo has struggled to settle in England and would potentially be interested in a move back home to Spain but with Manchester City keen keeping the forward, it will cost Simeone and his board a fair amount of cash.
Luckily for Simeone, the Champions League finalists have a fair bit of cash from the imminent sale of Diego Costa and it appears Negredo – a tried and tested goalscorer in La Liga – is that man.
Manchester City fans. Given the amount of top quality forwards you have, would you be willing to cash in on Negredo and give Stevan Jovetic more of a regular chance next season? Let us know your thoughts below.
