Journalist from Metro and a regular with gossip in the Football Transfer Tavern, Jamie Sanderson has come into the bar today bearing news of a possible blockbuster bid from Real Madrid for Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero.
The Argentine international forward, 25, has been repeatedly linked with a switch to the Santiago Bernabeu in recent times and it appears now that the Etihad Stadium club are expecting an official offer to arrive in the next few days.
Sanderson indicates that City are about to complete the signing of Sevilla star Alavro Negredo within the next 24 hours after the Spainard said his goodbyes at the La Liga club while talks are progressing to see Fiorentina striker Stevan Jovetic also making the move to Manchester this summer.
This could possibly see the former Atletico Madrid man falling down the pecking order within Manuel Pellegrini’s revamped side while City must also fall into practice with the new Financial Fair Play demands which may leave Aguero vulnerable from a big-money move in Spain.
Aguero has already had to deny rumours that he was heading to La Liga this summer, stating in May: “I’m very happy to be at Manchester City. I’m committed to them. It’s a great club.”
However with recently appointed Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti seeking a new forward to lead the line with Gonzalo Higuain set to depart for Napoli, the player who cost City £38 million back in 2011 could be ready for new challenge.
Should Manchester City cash in on their star striker or would the idea be madness? Let us know your thoughts below.
