Manchester City are already putting down their marker this season, sitting top of the pile as we head into the Premier League fixtures this weekend following the international break.

Pep Guardiola's men still look like the team to beat, and in doing so without the injured Kevin De Bruyne, have further demonstrated just how good their squad depth is.

However, in order to keep moving forward in the modern game, City must keep adding quality to the ranks in the form of exciting and up and coming young players, and one player we here at the Tavern think would be a superb signing is Dutch winger Steven Bergwijn.

The 21-year-old flyer has been seriously impressive in the last 12 months, with his fine form being rewarded with a call up to the Dutch national team.

Valued at £18m by Transfermarkt, Bergwijn looks to have all the tools in his arsenal to develop into a quality player at the highest level, and it would seem inevitable that he will eventually seal a move away from PSV to one of the bigger clubs on the continent.

With Bergwijn already impressing and racking up the goals and assists last season, there's ever reason to believe that he will only develop further and become the next top quality player to emerge from the Eredivisie.

If City want to keep improving, then signing young talent like Bergwijn would be a smart move.

City fans, what do you think? Would this be a good signing? Let us know in the comments!
