Manchester City are already making waves in the transfer market this summer, with the captures of Monaco winger Bernardo Silva and Benfica goalkeeper Ederson signalling their intentions early doors.
The Premier League and Champions League will once again be the priority for City and their manager Pep Guardiola, and these early signings are positive signs.
The City fans here in the Tavern have been sat with pretty smug grins on their face following the club’s early foray into the market, and they fully expect more and more signings over the summer months.
One player our landlord thinks would slot right in at the Etihad is current PSG midfielder Marco Verratti, who has emerged as one of the top midfield talents on the continent over the past few seasons.
Verratti is a class act in the middle of the park, and at 24, has plenty of time to develop into one of the world’s best midfielders over the coming seasons. City need to reinforce the middle of the park, with David Silva and Yaya Toure both not getting any younger, and the likes of Fernando simply not been of the quality needed.
PSG are likely to demand big money for Verratti, but that’s not a problem for a club like City, and should they decide to make a move for him in the summer, then they will have a world class midfield player on their hands for years to come.
City fans, what do you think? Good signing? Let us know in the comments!
