The Manchester City fans who are gathered at the bar in The Transfer Tavern this evening are discussing news that one of their players is set to miss the start of next season.
The Manchester Evening News is reporting that Vincent Kompany looks set to miss out on the start of next season through injury.
News filtered through at the weekend that the City captain was going to miss EURO 2016 after sustaining a thigh injury during the Champions League defeat to Real Madrid last week.
A Belgian physician who has been looking after Kompany confirmed that the big central defender isn’t likely to be available to play again until at least September.
The news will be a blow to Kompany whose future has been a hot topic of conversation with many believing that he is not in new manager Pep Guardiola’s plans for next season when he takes the reigns at the club.
The City fans in The Tavern are concerned with the amount of games Kompany has missed through injury this season and think the writing could be on the wall for the experienced defender this summer.
