Despite being hounded 4-1 by Tottenham Hotspur at the weekend, and losing their opening European fixture to Juventus two weeks ago, the Chilean manager is bullish about his sides chances and is quoted by Goal as stating his side is ‘destined’ to win the Champions League.
He pointed out that he has a young side at his disposal, which includes the likes of Raheem Sterling and Kevin De Bruyne, but it’s quite clear that last season’s runners-up in the Premier League are a way off challenging for European honours.
The champions of Germany and Spain are undoubtably superior to City, whilst Juventus’ victory two weeks ago suggests they are also more fancied- especially as they are the runners-up last term.
City can go far but winning the Champions League is a dream that is unlikely to be fulfilled this season- although stranger things have happened.
