Jamie Sanderson from Metro has just arrived in the Football Transfer Tavern to offer some transfer news to Manchester City supporters gathered around the bar.
Sanderson takes a seat to explain that Manuel Pellegrini is lining up a surprise swoop for Gil Vicente defender Pecks during the January transfer window after receiving a positive recommendation from one of their scouts about the powerful defender.
The Chilean manager has already indicated that he will be looking to add to his new look side when the window re-opens in the New Year and the 20-year-old centre back could be one of the first to arrive at the Etihad Stadium.
The Cape Verde international had recently broken through at the Portuguese club and he is thought to be valued at around £5 million.
Now we must admit that we haven’t actually heard of Pecks but fortunately Sanderson is on hand to give us some background on the youngster who could be soon playing in the Premier League with Newcastle Ujited and Tottenham both also reportedly interested.
He announces that Pecks, whose full name is Pericles Santos Pereira is a tall and tough tackling centre half who has been compared to City captain Vincent Kompany and would be a great signing for City.
Would this be an astute signing for the former Premier League champions? Let us know your thoughts below.
