Manchester City could lose Citizens star for bargain fee

James MilnerThe Manchester City fans in the Football transfer Tavern never thought they would be held to ransom by James Milner but it appears that may soon be a reality!

As according to the Daily Star, the Citizens could be forced to sell the England international midfielder to the highest bidder in January as he continues to stall over a new deal.

The former Aston Villa and Leeds United midfielder is out of contract at the Etihad Stadium next summer and there is a real risk he could leave on a free at the end of the 2014/15 campaign.

Manchester City chiefs have offered the midfielder a new deal but he is yet to agree on the terms on the table.

He is currently valued at £15 million by Manuel Pellegrini but he could leave for as little as £5 million in January as clubs sense a bargain.

The 28-year-old counts as one of the clubs’ homegrown players so Pellegrini is unlikely to let the player leave without a struggle.

However, City chiefs have already kept tabs on Southampton’s James Ward-Prowse if they are unable to keep Milner at the club.
