A new rumour to reach us here in the Football Transfer Tavern concerns the future of Manchester City and England defender Joleon Lescott, with Jamie Jackson of The Guardian reckoning he will seek a loan move this January.
Lescott has fallen out of favour with Roberto Mancini, and has only managed to start seven league games this season. The former Everton man currently sits fourth in the pecking order behind Vincent Kompany, Kolo Toure and summer signing Matija Nastasic.
Lescott is desperate for first team football in order to keep his England place, and a possible loan move to former club Everton has been mentioned.
However, any decision on Lescott’s future will be made by Roberto Mancini, who is well aware that Kolo Toure will be departing for the African Cup of Nations in the new year, meaning Lescott may yet get the chance to prove himself at the Etihad.
