Here at the Football Transfer Tavern we love to keep an eye on life outside the Premier League and having been closely watching the progress of very talented Leeds United youngster Sam Byram, it’s no surprise to us then to today spot the Mail Online linking him with a big money move to Premier League champions Manchester City in the summer.
The right back has emerged as a key player for Neil Warnock’s side this season despite only making his debut in August and after impressing against City in the recent FA Cup 4-1 defeat, Roberto Mancini has now lined him up as a possible transfer target.
Mancini is ready for a summer clear-out as he looks to freshen up the squad that is miles behind rivals United in the title race and a talented youngster like Byram could fit the bill.
The 19-year-old is also interesting Premier League rivals West Bromwich Albion, Stoke City and Wigan Athletic but a move to the Etihad Stadium looks like the most attractive option with City willing to fork out £8 million to bring him to the club – something that could be hard to resist despite his young age.
Will one of the Championship’s hot prospects be winging his way to Manchester? Rate this rumour below.
