Manchester City: Fans can’t believe Ederson didn’t win Man of the Match against Crystal Palace

Manchester City got back to winning ways on Saturday, securing a 2-0 victory against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park (via BBC Sport).

Goals from Gabriel Jesus and David Silva were enough for the champions to pick up three valuable points, ensuring they bounced back from their shock defeat against Wolves prior to the international break (BBC Sport).

There were several excellent performances from players in Pep Guardiola’s side, and it was Silva who was given the Man of the Match award by the club’s official Twitter account.

In fairness to Silva he did play two key passes, complete two successful dribbles and finish the game with an excellent passing accuracy of 88.9%, as well as scoring a goal (via WhoScored).

However, several City fans couldn’t believe that the award was not given to goalkeeper Ederson. The Brazilian was largely untested throughout the evening, but did make two key saves towards the end of the match.

The first saw him brilliantly tip Christian Benteke’s goal-bound header onto the post (per Planet Football), whilst he also managed to keep out Wilfried Zaha’s deflected strike (via Manchester Evening News).

Those saves really impressed the majority of Manchester City fans, many of whom couldn’t believe that he wasn’t given the Man of the Match award over Silva…
