Liverpool and Manchester City have developed some sort of rivalry as of late. The two sides are at the top of the Premier League and have Brazil’s first two choice ‘keepers between them, making comparisons between the two a regular thing. This week, Alisson made a game-saving stop, just for Ederson to do the same 24 hours later, and City fans all believe their man’s top was much better.
This save from Ederson

If the two saves had been made by any other goalkeepers, the comparisons and arguments over who’s stop was better simply wouldn’t be happening. However, that’s not the case and as these stunning stops were made by the Brazilian’s of Anfield and The Etihad, they simply have to be put next to each other. There will never be a definitive answer to who’s was better, but that won’t stop loads of the Sky Blues lauding their man for the better one.
In terms of the context of the game, there’s no doubting that Alisson’s save was the more important. The Reds were hanging onto the 1-0 scoreline that would see them progress to the Champions League knockout rounds when Alisson came up big in added time, However, Ederson’s save was of a higher quality, as he threw himself to his left to tip a fierce curling effort around the post to keep the score at 0-0.
You can see exactly what the Citizens have had to say about their man’s world-class save here:
10 times better than the one from Alisson last night.

Just amazing, based on that one save, which wasn’t directly at him by they way, Ederson has to be the best keeper in world football #ScouseReasoning

Edersons better, Alissons bigger… both superb keepers, can we just leave it at that?

The Etihad faithful loved seeing Ederson pull his save out of the top drawer and will hope he can carry on impressing as he aims to become Brazil’s #1.
