Manchester City were pretty quiet in the transfer window, but the Premier League champions still go into the new season with the best squad in the division.
Attack, in particular, is an area where manager Pep Guardiola is spoilt for choice.
On top of club-record signing Riyad Mahrez, who was Manchester City’s only first-team addition this summer, the Spaniard also has Raheem Sterling, Leroy Sane and Bernardo Silva to choose from when formulating his forward line.
And another name who Guardiola could now seriously consider as an option in those positions is Brahim Diaz.
£4.5m-rated (via Transfermarkt) Diaz only made five Premier League appearances for Manchester City last season and the club had wanted the 19-year-old to go out on loan to Girona FC.
However, according to Goal journalist Sammy Lee (via City Watch), Diaz could remain at the Etihad with talks over a contract extension on his current deal which expires in 12 months time ongoing.
Given Guardiola’s stature and ability as a coach, Diaz not wanting to leave is understandable. But, with how stacked Manchester City’s attack is, the Spaniard will struggle to find game time.
Have a look at what Manchester City supporters are saying on Diaz below…
