Manchester City fans on Twitter sarcastic with Mangala set for Etihad stay

After an incredible season in which they won the Premier League title with a record 100 points and the Carabao Cup, not many squad changes are expected at Manchester City this summer.

Riyad Mahrez, who signed from Leicester City for a £60m club-record fee (via BBC Sport), is only likely to be joined by one other addition if manager Pep Guardiola still decides to go through with signing a midfielder.

The Spaniard missed out on primary target Jorginho to Chelsea and is now deliberating on whether to look for an alternative or utilise the likes of Fabian Delph and Ilkay Gundogan instead.

As for outgoings, one player who is certain to remain at the Etihad for the foreseeable future is Eliaquim Mangala, valued at £13.5m by Transfermarkt.

The Times (via City Watch) reports that Manchester City are unlikely to find a buyer because of a knee injury sustained by the Frenchman back in February.

With Vincent Kompany, Nicolas Otamendi, John Stones and Aymeric Laporte all at the club, Manchester City will be dying to get Mangala off their wage bill.

The 27-year-old has been a large disappointment since his big-money move from Porto to the Premier League champions and has been surplus to requirements for some time now.

Have a look at what Manchester City fans are saying on Mangala and his Etihad future below…
