Manchester City made light work of Aston Villa in their latest Premier League outing, netting three second-half goals in quick succession to put the result beyond doubt.
However, despite most of the positive work being done on an attacking front, Brazilian shot-stopper Ederson proved once again why he is up there with the best following his second successive league clean sheet.
The Premier League champions were in danger of conceding when Villa midfielder John McGinn found himself with a glaring opportunity after Ederson’s brilliant one-on-one save, only for the Scotsman to strike the post with the keeper collecting the rebound.
Ederson’s moment of awareness has prompted praise from City fans on social media, following his instinctive decision to come out and block a dangerous chance before McGinn’s missed effort.
The 26-year-old has proved to be one of City’s most important players so far this season, averaging a save rate of 2.7% despite his side having the lion’s share of possession, as per WhoScored.com.
Here’s what the sky blues had to say following a brilliant Ederson save.
