The Leroy Sane to Bayern Munich transfer saga was infamous throughout the summer window, but are supporters in for a sequel next year?
Should Manchester City sign a central defender in January?
Pep Guardiola will have money to spend in January after his board allocated funds for signings.
City are keen to strengthen in defence and ‘significant’ funds are available. City will have to offload a non-homegrown player in order to sign a new player.

In an extremely long-winded and rumour-loaded few months, Bayern officials appeared to repeatedly declare their interest in signing City starlet Sane, with reports suggesting the move was imminent, at least until the German winger suffered a serious knee injury keeping him out of action until the New Year.
Now, the whispers have piped down a few notches, but the fact is that Bayern president Uli Hoeness is still said to be harbouring a real interest in bringing the youngster to the Allianz Arena.
A really important player for the Sky Blues in recent seasons, Sane scored a series of important goals during City’s treble-winning campaign – with strikes against Liverpool at home and in the Manchester derby at Old Trafford.
It’s certainly possible that the former Schalke man could make the move back to Germany sooner rather than later, and most City supporters are in full agreement.
