The amount of young English talent in the pipeline at the moment is truly astonishing. The likes of Mason Mount, Jadon Sancho, Reiss Nelson and Trent Alexander-Arnold are all thriving as they play first-team football. Phil Foden could be in that category too, however, he just isn't getting enough game time to force his way into that argument at The Etihad this season.

That's not for want of trying, though. The Citizens have been calling for Foden to be given chances for weeks and at times last night, it felt like the supporters were more interested in giving Foden a run out than they were on winning. During the Watford clash, Pep Guardiola brought on three subs, leaving his young English midfielder on the bench as an unused substitute, something that the fans aren't happy with.

As far as the supporters are concerned, last night's Premier League clash would have been a brilliant opportunity to see Foden get some minutes. This weekend will see Manchester City face one of their toughest tests of the season as they travel to Stamford Bridge to take on Maurizio Sarri's Chelsea. There's almost no way that Foden will get a look in for that clash, and the Guardiola could have rested one of his big boys for that game by using Foden yesterday.

You can read the Sky Blues' calls for their 18-year-old prodigy to get some minutes here:

The 18-year-old midfielder seems to be consistently overlooked for chances by Guardiola and you wouldn't blame him if he looked to force a move in the upcoming January transfer window, be it a loan or a permanent one.
