Manchester City fans absolutely love Phil Foden. The hype around the 18-year-old midfielder seems to grow every time he steps out on the pitch in sky blue, and consider how highly Pep Guardiola rates him it seems that his future will be a very bright one, and yesterday saw the youngster score his first ever goal at The Etihad for the Citizens.

In football, every goal counts for the same, whether it’s a 30-yard belter or one like Foden scored yesterday, they all go down the same way. However, yesterday’s strike for the 18-year-old midfielder wasn’t exactly intentional. After Ilkay Gundogan played a delightful ball over the Rotherham defence for Foden, the midfielder tried to take a touch but saw the ball bounce off his knee and under the Rotherham ‘keeper.
Watching the goal back, Foden will surely get a chuckle out of the way his first ever home goal for the Premier League champions fell to him, but he won’t be complaining at all. That goal was just Foden’s second ever for Manchester City, and if you buy into the hype surrounding the youngster then it could be the second of many, considering how highly rated the Stockport-born 18-year-old is at The Etihad.
