Manchester City fans are looking forward to the January transfer window in a bid to potentially sure up their weakened defence for the title race, and one man is firmly on the radar.
Can Manchester City still win the title?
The Citizens have been linked with Benfica’s Ruben Dias as a possible target (via Daily Mirror) to help fill the gaping hole left by the absence of injured Aymeric Laporte and the departure of club legend Vincent Kompany in the summer.
Dias, who was a component of Benfica’s title-winning team last season, looks like a good fit for this City side.
According to WhoScored, this season, Dias’ pass success rate stands at a respectable 88.7%. With City looking to dominate possession, evident from their 61% ball possession average, the highest in the Premier League, having defenders such as Dias is key.
If the Premier League champions are looking to secure his signature, they’ll have to act quickly, with reports suggesting Benfica are looking to tie him down to a new contract with a £79 million release clause.
That hasn’t appeared to sway City supporters, however, who are desperate to see their team reignite their stuttering title bid with a new defensive addition.
