There has been a few over the past few seasons but according to The Mirror, one player that will not be moving to the club is Everton midfielder Ross Barkley.
Manuel Pellegrini’s side had been tracking the Toffees star all summer despite the fact that he has recently signed a new long-term contract at Goodison Park.
But today the national is claiming that they have ruled out a bid for the England international after being told he will cost the club £50 million.
It had been thought that Manchester City were willing to pay up to £30 million to obtain the 20-year old England international’s services.
Barkley has made less than 30 Premier League appearances during his short rise to fame at Everton, however many believe that he could cut it with the Champions.
A City insider said: “Barkley was seen as one of the few homegrown English players in the world game who would improve the squad.”
