Manchester City fans in the Football Transfer Tavern are growing concerned over the future of Yaya Toure.
However, they have been comforted by the news from the Daily Mail who claim the Citizens will move for Everton starlet Ross Barkley as a replacement.
Toure is said to be keen to force a move to Paris Saint-Germain this summer having been publicly critical of City’s treatment towards him.
The 31-year-old is set to hold talks with club officials and Manuel Pellegrini over this future, having previously claimed to feeling unloved at the Etihad Stadium.
His agent claimed the club failed to acknowledge his birthday in the correct manner, whilst Toure also claimed he was refused compassionate leave by the Premier League champions to spend time with his sick brother, who died of cancer at the age of 28 last month.
City hope to hang onto Toure, who is on a lucrative four year contract at the Etihad, but will turn their attentions to Barkley should the Ivory Coast international force a move through.
Everton have no intention of selling the 20-year-old, who was a part of England’s World Cup squad and a key part of Roberto Martinez’s future plans.
City are aware they would have to pay in excess of £50 million for the midfielder, who is widely regarded as the most exciting prospect in English football.
