Manchester City identify Frenchman as ideal Yaya Toure replacement

The Manchester City fans in the Transfer Tavern have come to expect that Yaya Toure is entering the final stages of his career at The Etihad. He has been an excellent servant for the Sky Blues over the past few years but he is coming towards the end of his footballing career and his Man City contract is due to expire in the summer.

According to a report by The Daily Mail, Manchester City are already eyeing Lille midfielder Boubakary Soumare as Yaya Toure’s long term replacement. Soumare left Paris Saint-Germain in the summer to join Lille and has already broken into their first team.

The 18-year-old is a box to box midfielder who has already caught the eye with his performances in the French top division for Lille. Man City have been scouting him since his days at PSG.

Soumare still has two years left to run on his contract with Lille after this season expires but Manchester City will be confident of tempting the Ligue 1 club into a sale, especially given the fact that Lille are currently in financial trouble and are considering selling their star assets.

Manchester City see the towering midfielder as a perfect replacement for Toure.

The Verdict

Boubakary Soumare stands at 6ft 2in and he could be a like for like replacement for Toure. The France youth international has bags of energy and has the ability to do the defensive and attacking work required of a box to box midfielder. With age on his side, the talented teenager could be a future star at Man City.
