Manchester City fans in the Transfer Tavern are reacting to news that their club has identified an alternative to top managerial target Pep Guardiola, debating whether the new name is good enough.
The Daily Star says former Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti will be approached to lead the Citizens, should their quest to appoint Pep Guardiola end in disappointment.
Ancelotti has been heavily linked with a Premier League move since leaving Real Madrid in the summer, with Liverpool and Chelsea both being touted as potential destinations, but the Italian will remain out of action for the time being.
“Pellegrini’s job is safe at the moment, but we know how quickly this can all change and if it did then Carlo Ancelotti is one of two men the club want.”
Fans are optimistic that Ancelotti could do a job in Manchester, particular after leading Real Madrid to a record tenth European Cup in 2013.
