We all know it’s going to be a busy summer in the transfer market at Manchester City after seeing the title slip away to Manchester United and the Daily Mirror today reports that Roberto Mancini has lined up Argentinian defender Diego Novaretti as he looks to rebuild his team.
Novaretti’s current contract with Mexican side Toluca runs out at the end of the season and according to reports in Italy, Mancini will bring him to the Etihad Stadium on a free transfer.
The Mirror’s South American expert Ed Maylon has arrived in the tavern to tell punters more about the 27-year-old central defender. Nicknamed ‘Skinny’ due to his slight frame, he is at home in either a back three or four which will suit the Italian manager’s plans for greater tactical flexibility next season.
The defender has impressed since signing for the Mexian side in the summer of 2009 and he regularly appears in the elite South American competition, the Copa Libertadores, which has attracted significant interest from Europe. Although Maylon later confirms to City fans sat around the dartboard that he didn’t expect to see the Citizens linked with his signature.
