Manchester City want to sign Ajax and Holland star Frenkie de Jong next summer.
Indeed, the defending Premier League champions have watched De Jong extensively but will face competition for one of the finest young talents in European football, as Barcelona have also made checks on the 21-year-old.
Ajax are expected to demand as much as £70 million for De Jong, but City aren’t looking to sign the midfielder until next summer, unless a number of injuries occur.
