The Daily Mail have claimed that Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini is considering making a move for Adil Rami before the transfer window closes this summer.
After seeing his side fall to Cardiff City so early into the season and factoring the injuries to his defensive players into the equation, Pellegrini is keen to get another centre back in as soon as possible.
As one of our punters quips, having to play Javi Garcia against a newly promoted side is one thing, but playing him in a six pointer against the likes of Chelsea or Manchester United is quite another.
Having seen his pursuit of Real Madrid defender Pepe fail and also struggling to bring another of his former players, Martin Demichelis to the Etihad Stadium, Pellegrini has now turned his attentions to Rami.
The Valencia defender is open to a move away from the Mestalla and the chance to play in the Premier League and also challenge for titles, not to mention playing in the Champions League is a massive attraction for the French international.
As we have seen from Valencia time and time again, they are not inclined to sell their best players on the cheap, but they would be willing to do so for the right offer.
Given the likes of Juan Mata and David Villa have been sold by the club in recent years, Rami is aware that should City bid enough for him, the cash strapped La Liga side would have little option but to sell him.
Following the Pepe and Demichelis disappointment, will Rami be the one that says ‘yes’? Let us know your thoughts below.
