The Express today suggests that Manchester City want to replace Carlos Tevez with Borussia Dortmund striker Robert Lewandowski and are willing to offer Edin Dzeko in a cash plus player deal.
Tevez yesterday sealed a reported £10 million move to Juventus and City are now looking for a world class replacement for the Argentine forward.
Scouts from the Etihad Stadium were watching the Polish forward last season and the club had approached the German side over a possible transfer but were told he had made his mind up to join Bayern Munich this summer.
However Dortmund have now decided to take a hard line and have insisted that they will not sell another quality player to their fierce league rivals following Mario Gotze’s controversial switch to the Allianz Arena.
Now the 24-year-old Pole is ready to force a move by telling the Westfalenstadion-based club he will depart on a free transfer when his contract expires next season which could see Dortmund cashing in on Lewandowski this summer.
Manchester City hope that by offering Dzeko – who is surplus to requirements at the Etihad Stadium – they could tempt the German side into selling their star striker to the former Premier League champions.
Will the lure of Dzeko prove enough to help bring Lewandowski to the Etihad Stadium? Rate this rumour below.
