We at the Football Transfer Tavern are gutted to see Carlos Tevez leave the Premier League but according to the The Independent, Manchester City are lining up a move for Bayern Munich star Mario Gomez to replace him.
Gomez reportedly doesn’t figure into new Bayern boss Pep Guardiola’s plans as the former Barcelona manager is desperate to bring Borussia Dortmund striker Robert Lewandowski to Munich this summer.
City are set to bid £20 million for the German international and are hoping to tie up a deal in the next week as pre-season gets underway.
New City boss Manuel Pellegrini has also singled out Sevilla’s Alvaro Negredo and Roma’s Pablo Osvaldo as potential targets if a deal for Gomez falls through as well as Benfica forward Oscar Cardozo who could be on his way to the Premier League regardless.
City want at least one top class striker to replace Tevez as it appears Edin Dzeko could also be on his way out of the door leaving just Sergio Aguero as the lone forward in sky blue.
Will City depart Tevez with Mario Gomez this summer? Rate this rumour below.
