To say there are some shocked faces here in the Football Transfer Tavern after the latest claim from the Daily Mail would be a bit of an understatement after they claimed that Manchester City’s Edin Dzeko could be used in a money plus player deal to land Napoli’s Edinson Cavani.
It was clear Dzeko has been looking for a move for a while now and we at the tavern were only yesterday discussing the potential for a Napoli switch, yet never imagined that he could be used in a £53 million deal.
It had been thought that Cavani was close to agreeing terms with Real Madrid and the Spanish press certainly thought that was the case, yet now it seems City are back in the game with their offer.
Cavani is desperate for a move and new start after affair rumours with a 22-year-old student rocked his marriage and a transfer to City could provide exactly the diversion he craves.
Napoli are certain they will lose their top scorer this summer and are already canvassing around for replacements with City’s top scorer being top of that list. Despite only turning out 14 times, Dzeko has managed 12 goals and is unhappy about his lack of playing time.
Would Napoli agree to a Dzeko plus cash proposition from City? Rate this rumour below.
